From Infield Star to Head Coach

Tony Vitello, born October 9, 1978, has left an indelible mark on Tennessee baseball. The former infielder began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Tennessee in 2004 and has since ascended to the position of head coach.

Leading the Vols to Success

In his fifth season as head coach, Vitello orchestrated Tennessee's historic NCAA Knoxville Super Regional appearance. Under his guidance, the Vols won 50 games and captured the SEC East title.

In 2021, Vitello led Tennessee Baseball to the College World Series for the first time since 2005. The Vols posted an impressive 50-win season and once again claimed the SEC East.

Vitello's leadership reached a pinnacle in 2022 when he guided UT to an extraordinary 57-win season, the best mark in program history. The Vols also captured their first SEC regular season and tournament championships under his leadership.
